Two people have reported that KnitMinder 1.2 is crashing on the Yarns and Needles pages. I haven't been able to reproduce the problem, but I'm looking into it now and will post more information as I figure out what is going on. Most users have not had any trouble with the update, but if you have problems, please use the Contact Us tab above to write to me to let me know.
IMPORTANT UPDATE: updating to the new 3.0 OS appears to fix the problem. I'm still trying to find out what is going on and will post a fix ASAP. I know that the iPod touch users have to pay for OS updates, so it isn't fair to force these people to upgrade so KnitMinder works. I'll have you back running as soon as I can!
I just got the notification from Apple that KnitMinder and KnitMinder Lite 1.2 are now available for download on the iTunes App Store! This free update includes support for interchangeable needles, yarn fiber blends, over 30 new yarn colors, and a new "in use" indication that shows you which needles and yarns are being used in your projects. There are also 12 other bug fixes and improvements in this version -- check out the full list here.
Let me know what you think, and if you have any ideas for the next version!
I'm finishing up the next release of KnitMinder and hope to have it submitted to Apple sometime next week. This release contains a few bug fixes and some new features that knitters have been asking for, including support for modular needles and the ability to enter fiber blends for yarns. Apple has a huge developer conference in early June, so I want to get this release in their system for approval before that happens because they sometimes put a hold on app reviews if they are going to make a big announcement at the conference.
It's been a month since KnitMinder and KnitMinder Lite were released, and downloads are still strong. We average about 25 downloads per day for the free version and about five or six of the full version. Apple only pays developers when they accumulate $250 in sales in each region (US, Canada, UK, etc), and even then their terms are net 45 days, so I haven't yet tasted the fruits of my labor... More importantly, this is the reason you haven't heard about the first of the 10% donation checks yet. We are still planning on sending the first donation to the House Rabbit Society, but are open to suggestions for other animal-related charities for future donations.
Thanks again to everyone who has written in with great suggestions for the program and especially those folks who reviewed the design for modular needles!
There isn't a lot of activity on the forums here, so I've removed the requirement to create an account before you are permitted to post forum topics or leave comments. If we end up getting a huge amount of spam on this site, I'll re-enable that requirement, but I think the CAPTCHA settings will take care of most automated posting programs. Let me know what you think!
NOTE: I just fixed an issue with the site permissions that prevented posting to the forums. NOW you can post all you like! :)
I just got word that the 1.0.1 update for KnitMinder and KnitMinder Lite is now available for download. Check for updated applications in iTunes or on your iPhone/iPod touch! See this forum post for a list of issues that are fixed in the update.
Thanks to Carole who reported an issue with choosing photos for yarns and projects on her iPod touch. I'm not sure how I missed that one, but I've fixed the bug and have submitted an update to Apple for approval. Look for the updated version early next week. Sorry about the inconvenience in the meantime!
